Guillaume has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry, where he has held various senior executive positions in ALSTOM, AREVA and Schneider Electric, managing global SmartGrid & Grid Automation business units. More recently, Guillaume has been managing the international operations of SunPower Corp (NASDAQ: SPWR), focusing on large ground-mount solar PV plants and residential & commercial solar systems. Guillaume is a French citizen, and lived for over 12 years overseas, in the US, China and Europe. He holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Supélec, France and MBA from Harvard Business School.
Dr. Deepak Divan is Chief Scientist & Founder of Varentec. He is also Professor, Petit Chair and Director of the Center for Distributed Energy at Georgia Tech. Dr. Divan has over 35 years of experience in industry and academia in the areas of power electronics applied to utility and industrial systems with Varentec being his third entrepreneurial venture.
Dr. Divan is a Member of the National Academy of Engineers, Fellow of the IEEE, recipient of the 2006 IEEE Newell Award, is past President of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, and has been elected as a Member of the National Academy of Engineering. With over 250 papers and 50 issued and pending patents, Dr. Divan combines unique perspectives on the changing landscape on the Transmission & Distribution grid, and the need for a transition to dynamic grid edge control, including advanced power electronics solutions and unique control algorithms.
Mehrdad is a technical leader with extensive engineering and manufacturing experience in networking, clean technology, application delivery and security domains. Versed in all facets of hardware and software development, managing multi-site, and international development teams of over 100 members, Mehrdad has a proven track record of delivering solutions and volume ramp of highly successful products generating more than $1Billion in revenue. Prior to Varentec, he has a long and successful career as an Engineering leader at a combination of technology and energy-centric organizations, including: Mitsubishi Semiconductor America, CoSine Communications, Aruba Networks, Foundry Networks, and Brocade. Mehrdad holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, his MSEE from West Virginia University, and holds four patents.
Damien Tholomier is an executive professional with more than twenty-four years of experience in Energy Segment (Power, Oil & Gas, Mining) at AECOM, Bechtel, Areva T&D/Schneider Electric, Alstom T&D and GEC Alsthom T&D/Concordia Sprecher. Damien brings to Varentec a solid products and engineering solutions background complemented by sharp business acumen and strategic vision in developing automation products & systems. Damien is now driving Varentec’s Solutions & Product Management team, as well as Marketing & Communications. Damien received a MSc in Automation and IT engineering in 1992 from the University of Marseille, France (Ecole Polytechnique) and a BEng in Electrical and Automation Engineering in 1990 from the University of Besancon, France.
Damien is IEEE senior member and has been participating to different working groups of the IEEE PSRC (Power System Relay Committee). He is also member of the CIGRE and was the Convener of the B5.36 Working Group related to the Applications for Protection Scheme based on IEC61850. He presented more than 40 technical papers at difference international conferences and has been instrumental in the development of the IEC61850-9-2 process bus.

Witold has over 25 years of experience working with the electric utility industry with focus on distribution automation, smart grid technologies, and communications. He currently serves as Vice President of Advanced Development at S&C Electric Company. Before that, while at S&C Witold served as Vice President of Product Innovation and Vice President of Automation Systems Division. Prior to joining S&C, he was President of EnergyLine Systems, a supplier or real-time embedded controls systems. Prior to EnergyLine Witold experienced Silicon Valley’s fast-paced environment while working at Magnetic Pulse, Inc. where he was involved in development of high-tech logging equipment for the oil industry. Witold is a board member at Varentec and a board member at Bidgely, a software analytics startup company. Witold holds MS in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Lodz, Poland.
Mr. Valdman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Optimum Energy, a Seattle-based industrial software and engineering company that develops solutions to reduce energy use in commercial and industrial facilities. Prior to joining Optimum Energy, Mr. Valdman was Senior Vice President, Strategy of Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison, one of the largest public utilities in the United States, from March 2011 to February 2015. Prior to joining Edison International in 2011, Mr. Valdman was the Chief Operating Officer of Puget Sound Energy where he was responsible for regulated electric and natural gas distribution operations, as well as the Customer Service, Information Technology, and Community Affairs functions. He also served as Puget Sound Energy’s Chief Financial Officer from 2003 through 2007. Before joining Puget Sound Energy, Mr. Valdman was a managing director with JP Morgan where he spent 16 years in a variety of positions in the investment bank in New York and Paris. Mr. Valdman has a BA in history from Northwestern University and MA and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University. Mr. Valdman serves as a Director of Veresen, Saltchuk Resources, the Solomon Corporation, as well as the Board of Trustees of the Lakeside School.
John Demeter is the General Counsel at Khosla Ventures. Prior to joining Khosla, John spent nine years as an attorney with the law firm WilmerHale where he represented both investors and entrepreneurs in general corporate matters, equity and debt financing transactions and merger and acquisition transactions. From time to time John has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, as well as a guest lecturer at University of San Francisco School of Law and Berkeley Law on the topic of venture capital transactions.
Prior to law school, John held sales and marketing positions at two venture-backed companies, had an ever so brief career in Bay Area radio, and spent a year working at his family’s small business. John received a CORe certification from HBX / Harvard Business School, his JD cum laude from University of San Francisco and his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Boston College.
Paul has more than 35 years of experience in energy economics, law, and regulation. His work has contributed to the development of environmental and electric power markets, advances in power system modernization, and the evolution of utility business and regulatory models. Mr. Centolella advises and provides expert testimony for clients as President of Paul Centolella & Associates and a Senior Consultant with the energy economics practice of Tabors Caramanis Rudkevich. He is a former Commissioner on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. He serves on several national committees including: the U.S. Secretary of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee, the National Academy of Sciences Committee on the Determinants of Market Adoption of Advanced Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy Technologies, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Smart Grid Advisory Committee.
