Position: Executive Vice President – Product & Project Management
Location: Santa Clara CA
Job Description: Develop Varentec’s long-term “Technology and Product Strategy Vision,” including the main aspects of the NextGEN platform; convert the Technology Vision into a robust and actionable platform and product roadmap (hardware/firmware/embedded software/software platforms) with a thorough filter on time-to-market customer needs; define product portfolio positioning and product specifications for each of the solutions components as well as high-level communications/mobile standards and mesh-radio networks; control and validate product development deliverables and implement product development processes; lead the released product portfolio certification process and testing at client’s labs and field tests; perform evaluation, measurement, and validation of the complete solution performance for clients’ field pilot projects; develop and maintain economic business cases to calculate and capture value streams for clients out of Varentec’s solution (and provide case analysis for clients’ tenders and bids); develop product portfolio price lists and project pricing on a principle of value-based pricing; manage the company’s current product portfolio and professional services offerings and lead efficient day-to-day technical support for the deployment of Varentec’s products (building, deployment to warranty); coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on project requirements, deadlines, schedules, and superior customer satisfaction; develop the Scope of Work, Project Schedule, and pricing schedules for multi-year contracts; secure, drive, and develop strategic partnerships with adjacent technology partners, vendors, and professional engineering service firms; monitor competitive innovation and maintain Varentec’s advanced solution and technical differentiation; manage the Advanced Research and Applications Center and lead Advanced Research teams; lead innovation and initiate development of advanced research based on superior expertise in grid technologies megatrends and Electric Distribution Utilities growing needs; supervise the Professional Services activity offered by Varentec to its customers; represent Varentec in industry conferences and forums; spec-in Varentec’s offering to State Public Utility Commissions and Utility C-Levels; drive the User’s Group and Technology Board; manage the portfolio of Varentec’s customer projects; obtain customer acceptance on project deliverables and manage customer relationship and satisfaction at all times; meet with customers to anticipate and resolve any issues in project scope/timeline as well as to pursue additional sales, positive impact on margin, and to reduce risk; facilitate change requests from customers and notify all parties of impacts on schedule and demand; and review project budget and purchase orders to make sure they are in line with the project scope. Requires 50% travel.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field and fifteen (15) years of experience in job offered or related field (Power Systems Operations/Engineering, Energy Automation, Computer Engineering, Transmission and/or Distribution).
SKILLS: Experience/Education must include the following:
- Electrical utilities real-time control systems and architectures
- Electricity grid automation technologies megatrends’ market
- Complex electricity grid turn-key projects and automation systems project management and delivery
- Static and dynamic power system modeling and real-time simulation
- Work in hardware/embedded software/firmware/software platforms
- Product management process and tools, including: idea management, specifications, roadmap, prioritization, delivery, analytics, experiments, and customer feedback
